HBCU Wallstreet x LRT: Shared Equity Student Housing
Tuskegee Empowerment Residence: Pioneering Student Wealth-Building & Next-Generation Housing at Tuskegee University
The Tuskegee Empowerment Residence (TER) represents a bold new chapter for student housing in Tuskegee, one that merges innovation, ownership, and community uplift. Rooted in the spirit of empowerment that has defined Tuskegee University for over a century, TER advances a modern vision of student success by creating access not only to high-quality housing, but to wealth-building opportunities traditionally out of reach for college students.
Developed through a transformative partnership between HBCU Wallstreet and Let’s Rebuild Tuskegee (LRT), this four-unit smart townhouse community introduces the Student Housing Equity Fund (SHEF), an unprecedented model that gives students indirect equity participation in the very housing they live in. Through this structure, student residents share in value creation, experience real-world financial exposure, and begin building an early foundation for economic mobility.
Beyond financial innovation, TER is designed as a sustainable, technology-forward living environment, incorporating smart-home features, efficient construction, and environmentally responsible systems that model the future of residential development. The project delivers tangible social, environmental, and economic returns—benefiting not only the students it houses, but also the local community and mission-driven investors seeking measurable impact.
By supporting the Tuskegee Empowerment Residence, you help create a new pathway for student wealth creation, elevate the standard of campus-area living, and strengthen Tuskegee’s legacy as a national leader in Black innovation, self-determination, and community advancement.
